Agle janam mohe bitiya na keejo...........

Even as India enters the 21st century proudly proclaiming development in all arenas, I am forced to pen down something like this
Isn't a would be mother supposed to be happy and pampered and free from all worries, least of all the "tension" of what treatment is in store for her if she delivers a baby girl
Why then did I have a friend losing her sleep over this? Her mother-in-law says "hamein to ladka hi chahiye" - we want a baby boy, and when she was told that her son wants a daughter - she reacted saying - "how does it matter what he wants" - for god sake dear aunty he is the would-be-dad!!! For how many generations are you going to dictate the gender !!!
how can u bloody look at the first ultrasound of the kid and say pata nahi kya hai - ladka ya ladki

how can u be immune to the magic of the tiny hands tiny feet, sweet life that u see on the ultrasound film
and its not some remote village i am talking off.......

Ask those unfortunate people who are would give a lot to just experience the joy of motherhood...

when i see women going thru this nonsense in our society - that is when u dont want to have a girl child - coz u dont want to see her suffering in the same manner that u did....and that is why a woman's hearts screams out to god ke "jo ab kiye ho daataa aisaa naa ki jo - agle janam mohe bitiyaa naa ki jo....."

Well.......all people are not like that. There are some who kept longing for a baby girl but God wishes other wise for them. He gave me boys even though I wanted Girls. I now am waiting for my daughter-in-laws when my sons grow up so that I may have them as my own daughters then.
I pray to God that "agle janam mohe bitiya hi dijo....""

but in the end it is about the fact of what people don't have...if they have all boys ...ek ladki bhi ho...if they are all girls...ladka bhi ho and if one girl and one boy is there ...ek hermaphro bhi ho....ppl are NEVER pleased and they are prejudiced over one or the other thing...there was an ancient tribe of cabaccioloci in amazonian clans where they killed all male babies but few breeding ones as those were considered straight up god's wrath to give the people's fertile land a hex by sending in a male

and there are ppl in india who are well to do and are educated who i just found out were doing 10000000000bil vrats and poojas because they have one daughter and some pundit told them they won't have any sons they are unfortunate to only have daughters...so yeah neptune has a point as do you dilip...

and my point is ppl shud shut up and stop breeding we are overfilled as a planet and there are enough snot faced kids runnign around boys and girls to everyone's comfort and just start freaking adopting!!!!!!

well, interesting point dear...having a child vs adopting.....well personally for me...rather than having anything to do with where the genetics come from, its the deep desire to feel a small heart beating within u...the whole 9 mnths...and somehow it seems 20 percent of my colleagues are pregnant these days :D - everyday an ever present symbol of what i am missing out on.....by the way where are u and what r u upto these days....chithi patri likh
